Short Summary

In a nutshell: Ferriss gives you practical tools, and a dose of inspiration to move from living a 9-5 life to living YOUR ideal life by focusing on what is most important to you.

1. Step I: D is for Definition

This first part helps you to move away from the main social idea about work, making money, retirement, and vacation. The book will help you to:

  • Instead of focusing on how much you make per year (absolute income), compare the amount of effort you make for the amount of income you gain (relative income).
  • Define your dream.
  • Look at the worst-case scenario that could happen if you were to follow that dream.
  • Check with yourself if the worst-case scenario is worth abandoning your dream.

2. Step II: E is for Elimination

This second part of the book will help you to become more productive by focusing on what is really important by guiding to:

  • Know how to create a to-do list.
  • Check emails twice a day.
  • Don’t be afraid to say ‘do not disturb’.
  • Eliminate things that cost your more energy than help you make more money.

3. Step III: A is for Automation

This third part looks at how you can outsource various tasks. The goal is to set up a middleman to create a flow of passive income such as:

  • Turning one of your empty rooms into an Airbnb.
  • Setting up an online webshop.
  • Creating a website.

4. Step IV: L is for Liberation

This last part explains to you how you can change your life in order to work remotely or switch your working schedule to your advantage.

By reading this book and taking my lifestyle to the next level, I:

  • Became more productive and efficient.

  • Focused more on my passions and the ones I love.

  • Look at how I can live my life is a completely new and better way.
